Wales (Hetalia)

This is my design for Wales of Hetalia. I'll put up more sketches and character design thingamajigs of him later on, but for now, you can look at his head .

I imagine his character as follows:

Wales, or Cymru (Kaem-ri) as he is known in the Welsh language, is the more gentle soul of the British Isle Brothers. He is the younger brother of Scotland and N. Ireland and elder brother of England. For the most part, he gets along well with his elder brothers. However, having been bullied by England, he is not overly fond of his younger brother, being somewhat afraid of him.

Unlike his brothers, he is not overly strong nor has any defining traits. As a matter of fact, he is often looked down upon by other Celtic nations, constantly discriminated against (the wiki page I was reading off of about the anti-Welsh media in the UK is actually depressing, makes me wanna give Wales a hug ). At one point in time, England, who we all know was a snobby self-absorbed too proud son of a beeetch not too long ago, constantly bullied Wales and kept him from speaking in his own tongue, Welsh, hoping he would forget the language entirely. The tactic backfired: not only has Wales completely retained his language, he's using it more often than ever just to show England that he remembers (fluency in the welsh language is actually rising for the first time in history! - see wiki).

In his spare time, he enjoys archery, eating laverbread with chicken tikka misala (his favourite dish; no actually, its the trending dish in Wales right now), and playing with his pet dragon, Dewi (I'll picture later). He is a absolute dragon fanatic, adoring all things dragon.

You can tell I got most of this information from the wiki page on Wales ... too little time to read up 50 000 books on Welsh history *yawn*.
While I would really like the idea that England's a nice friendly tsundere, judging by their history of conquest, racial superiority theory, and suppression of languages, including in Wales, I don't know a better way of putting it then to say that ... England was a real a-hole! He's a lot better now than he was and hopefully he'll keep improving. Gambatte, Igirisu!
